Vodafone Friendly North targets $200,000

The Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North committee aims to raise $200,000 during the week-long festival at Subrail Park in Labasa on August 19 to 26.

Committee spokesperson Vincent Sahayam said funds raised would be diverted to their major long term project – the construction of a multipurpose hall in Labasa.

“The purpose of having this project is to give greater benefit to the people of the Northern Division,” Mr Sahayam said.

“We have done numerous community projects such as the setting up of the Adi Laisa Children’s Park, the construction of the gym and its facilities, the kidney dialysis centre, the donation of a new cardiac machine at the hospital and many more.”

He is urging the communities to support them as they prepare for the festival for the sake of building a stronger Fiji.

“As for the launch of the king and queen contestants, we have yet to decide on a date,” Mr Sahayam said.

“Also, we can’t confirm the number of contestants taking part in the festival. We are thankful to have the continuous support from our major sponsor, Vodafone Fiji Limited.”

As for entertainment, Mr Sahayam said they would have a variety of performances from the Indian Cultural Centre and many more.

“We are also planning to have a baby show this year,” he said.
