Veteran Suva football midfielder Pita Rabo has been drafted into the side for the Vodafone Fiji FACT semifinal against Nadi at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori on Saturday.

Rabo who missed the Fiji FACT pool plays is hoped to spark the wounded capital city side players against the defending champions.

Suva Football president Ritesh Pratap said yesterday that they are happy to have Rabo back in the team.

He said Rabo was not included in the team for the Fiji FACT pool plays after he did not meet certain requirements that was needed.

“He (Rabo) has now return and has met those requirements so we’ve decided to include him for this semifinal,” Pratap said.

Pratap said Rabo’s inclusion will boost the team following the injury to their captain Setareki Hughes.

Hughes is out for six weeks after being injured against New Caledonia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier last week.

“Hughes injury is a big loss for us but we’re happy that Rabo has been cleared to play.”

The capital city side will also be without their right link Don Raj.

“We’ll be down with two key players but we’re hopeful that the players we’ll field would do the job for us.”

Suva will rely on strikers Ravinesh Karan Singh and Sairusi Nailabu to do the damage against the defending champions.

The side last won the tournament in 2012 in Ba after beating the hosts in the final.

“We are confident of winning this first tournament of the year. We are on a mission this year and we are optimistic that the new coach, management and players will win this tournament for the fans,” Pratap added.

The match kicks-off at 4.30pm
