Use Your Chances, Players Urged

The Vodafone Flying Fijians will need to step-up their performance if they are to beat Italy in their Test clash on Saturday, says head coach John McKee.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, McKee said they are working on how to win possession, maintain it and make use of it.
“We had a lot of possession from the game against Australia but we didn’t utilise those chances,” he said.
“I think both teams had even possession and while Australia probably converted six of theirs, we only converted two, so that points’ percentage is not good for us to win a big match.
“So we’re focusing on trying to get our game shape right this week and we also need quick balls and utilise the best opportunities we get.
“The guys love to be back in Fiji and to perform in front of their home crowd and we’re looking forward to more support at the ANZ Stadium this Saturday”
WORK IN PROGRESS
Flying Fijians backline coach Andre Bell said there is still work to be done to better their game pace.
“Obviously there was a new combination and for the boys to come in one week was pretty positive. It was good to see a few of the guys who have performed really well.”
Bell said this is the starting point for them and are looking forward to getting better in their next match.
“Overall, it was pretty pleasing and we’re hoping not to give away balls. We need to work on our game pace as we need it when we play Italy.
“We’ll now make sure to do things right and prevent the mistakes we had made in our last match and hopefully we’re able to produce better results as well.”
