The Fiji Rugby Union and some children have led the way in supporting the Wear White for Fiji campaign.

FRU chief executive officer John O’Connor, general manager commercial Brian Thorburn with some children dressed in white and painted their faces white yesterday.

This is to show their support for the Vodafone Flying Fijians in the test against Italy this Saturday 2.30pm at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

“We are launching our wear white campaign to get all Fijians behind the Vodafone Flying Fijians,” Thorburn said.

“If the Wallabies fans can turn out in gold and green and the All Blacks fans show up in a sea of black, Fijians can do it too in white. We are urging everyone to ‘Bring the fight and wear white.’

“All Fijians should wear white and support the Vodafone Flying Fijians. The children are very sympathetic in what we are trying to achieve. We will also have the best dress competition and a lot of free giveaways for the winners.

“I feel it is a great opportunity to engage the crowd and get the fans out to support their national team and show their pride which is a great thing.”

Meanwhile, O’Connor backed Thorburn and urged the fans to come out in numbers to support the Flying Fijians.

“This is the first time that we want to paint the ANZ Stadium white. It has been a long time since we had a series of test matches in Fiji and I feel that it is a good opportunity to show our support to the sport and our team.

“In terms of the merchandise, you can purchase white t-shirts and caps from S. Nagindas and on Thursday (today) we will be having the launch of the Fiji Rugby International Sports Clothing at TappooCity,” said O’Connor.

This launch at TappooCity Suva is 1-2pm at Level 1.
