Former Vodafone Fijian 7s star Semi ‘Beast’ Kunatani has lost his number one rugby fan and strong supporter in his dad Aminiasi Kunabuli.

Kunabuli, 81, died after a long illness at his home in Naqalimare, Navosa on Wednesday.

It was even painful for the Olympian for the fact he held his dad’s hand at his bedside when he died.

Kunatani said his dad’s final words to him were to always remember God Almighty in whatever he does.

“Dad reminded all of us to always think of God in whatever we do. Any challenges and difficulties we go through we need to put God first in our lives.

“He also told me to think of my siblings and to love them and keep striving for the best in my rugby career. “I will miss him,” he added.

Kunatani’s elder brother Salesi Radruku said told SUNsports that his dad Aminiasi wanted all the siblings to be with him in his last moment.

“Semi was right beside him when he died and that is what my father wanted for all his children to be with him.

“Semi held his hand and was massaging him until he died,” Radruku said.

“We are thankful that we have accomplished everything that he wanted and that he rested in peace.”

Kunabuli is survived by his six children and 12 grandchildren.
