Power Disruptions Expected In The Central Division

Power supply may be disrupted in the Central division tomorrow as the Fiji Electricity Authority will be replacing a circuit breaker at their 132 kilovolt Wailoa Switching substation.

This exercise is part of the Monasavu Hydro Electric Power Scheme Half Life Refurbishment works.

During the outage, FEA will de-commission the existing circuit breaker and disconnector from the site following which, foundation pads will be installed for the new 132kV circuit breaker and disconnector.

“Replacing the circuit breaker means FEA will not be able to transmit electricity from the Wailoa Hydro Power Station to the Central Division,” FEA acting chief executive officer Eparama Tawake said.

“During this time, we will rely on our diesel power stations at Korovou, Kinoya, Rokobili and Deuba to supply electricity to our Central Division Customers from Korolevu in Sigatoka to Korovou, Tailevu,” Mr Tawake said.
