Police are waiting for the Fijian Elections Office to finalise its plans for the 2018 General Election before organising its manpower for tight security.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said there was enough manpower to provide security to be deployed around the country.

“Plans for elections 2018 are well underway,” ACP Tudravu said.

“We are closely consulting with the Supervisor of Elections (Mohammed Saneem) and his team and also internally in terms of our manpower and all the logistics that are to be in place,” he said.

ACP Tudravu said the Police elections planning team was already engaging in preparatory works ahead of the elections.

“We have enough manpower to provide security to be deployed for Elections and as soon as we finalise everything from the Elections Office we will organise our manpower accordingly,” he said.
