The Telecom Fijiana 7s team flew out of the country yesterday to play in this weekend’s Clermont-Ferrand 7s tournament in France.

This is the last tournament of the 2016/17 World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series.

Fijiana coach Iliesa Tanivula said they are fifth on the current standings and their aim is to remain in the top four.

“This is to qualify us for next year’s Women Sevens World Cup,” Tanivula said.

The former Auckland Blues winger has named a powerful 12-member squad.

Fijiana are in Pool C where they are billed against Australia, France, and Spain.

Fijiana: Rusila Nagasau, Priscilla Siata, Talica Vodo, Merewai Cumu, Asinate Savu, Vilisi Vakaloloma, Ana Maria Roqica (Captain), Lavena Cavuru, Viniana Riwai, Lavenia Tinai, Tima Ravisa, Ana Maria Naimasi.

Meanwhile, Evania Pelite returns to the Australian squad after recovering from the knee injury suffered in Kitakyushu in April.

Co-captain Sharni Williams also makes a quick switch back to sevens having started at centre for the Wallaroos in their 44-17 loss to New Zealand in the International Women’s Rugby Series last week.

Pool A: New Zealand, USA, Ireland, Japan

Pool B: Canada, Russia, England, Brazil

Pool C: Australia, France, Fiji, Spain
