Theme: Responsible Business in a Green Economy

Two former Fijian rugby players will speak at the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation TOPEX conference this week.

His focus now is to encourage youngsters to be holistic in their approach towards sports through the Be An Inspiration (BAI) programme.

Koli Sewabu is the current coach of the Naitasiri Rugby team. He believes in using sports as a tool for socio-economic development and has been involved in a number of projects and research in the area of financial literacy and socio-economic development.

At least 200 people have registered to be part of the conference.

Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation chief executive officer Nesbitt Hazelman said the conference would be a chance for members to discuss issues that are affecting the businesses today.

The theme of the two-day event is Responsible Business in a Green Economy.

Mr Hazelman said the event has been progressing every year given that they only started with 44 members.

The conference has been moved to the first half of the year to ensure fewer disturbances for businesses.

Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for Pacific Island Donglin Li will officiate the event.

The registration will begin at 8.30 on Friday at the Shangri La’s Fijian Resort and Spa.

  • Uday Singh- General Manager Governance and Risk and Board Secretary at the Fiji National Provident Fund.

 

  • Rachael Mah – Managing Director, International Advisor & Trainer AusAsia Training Institute Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Australia
  • William Parkinson – Executive Director and founder of publicly listed Communications Fiji the largest radio broadcasting organisation in the South Pacific with radio networks in both Fiji and Papua New Guinea.

 

  • Hank Arts- the General Manager/Publisher of the Fiji Times and a former Television New Zealand executive and one of the pioneers of television in Fiji.

 

  • Lolesh Sharma – He is the Chief Executive Officer of Sun Insurance, prior to being appointed CEO at SUN in 2009, he was the GM Operations.

 

  • Kristen Kohere-Soutar is the Chair of Ngāi Tahu Whai Rawa and has been a member of the WRFL board since 2012.
