Provision of quarters guarantees better results

The provision of teachers quarters in rural and maritime areas is a priority, says Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

He said this while responding to requests for more teachers quarters at the Immaculate Conception Primary School and College in Solevu yesterday.

Making this request was Solevu district representative, Rafaele Ramanakiwai, during the Prime Minister’s visit to open two new duplex teachers’ quarters at both schools.

Mr Bainimarama said they were addressing this issue as they wanted not only teachers but all civil servants to have proper homes when sent to serve in rural and maritime communities.

More than 300 people gathered at the ICC Hall to welcome Mr Bainimarama and his delegation.

“This is a very special occasion for us as it would allow more subject teachers to come to our school,” an elated school manager Paulo Volavola said.

“For instance, we lack a computer teacher here but this incentive will allow space for one to come here and teach our children the subject,” he said.

Mr Bainimarama also urged students and teachers to take advantage of the opportunities provided to them  by Government.

“I look forward to seeing your school excel and that great men and women will be unleashed here,” Mr Bainimarama said.

Both schools accommodate 542 students and 34 teachers.
