As the Eid celebration draws nearer, businesses and customers also made their way to grab their last minute shopping for the joyous occasion.

Fiji Sun caught up with customers at a popular retail outlet in Suva, Jack’s of Fiji, to get a glimpse of the hype on the sales for the celebrations.

Alisha Buksh, a 19-year- old, was out with her parents excited on the purchase of her new shalwar kameez which cost $229.00 at Jacks of Fiji.

She said that she just could not wait to wear her new outfit with her family, friends and neighbours for Eid celebrations as it was her favourite festival of the year.

Her family is now geared up towards the preparations of sweets as they observe a new moon and await Eid celebration.

Jack’s of Fiji, retail manager, Hazrat Ali said that stocks for the Eid season began well beforehand to ensure that sales and services were provided efficiently to customers who had wished to buy their things before the fasting season.

He said the promotion for the Eid season started at Jack’s in May and it had targeted to attract customers who were especially interested in getting fashionable clothing and accessories for all ages with an affordable price.

Another customer who took advantage of the last minute shopping grabs at Jack’s was 37-year-old Pranita Rekha.

She had come in from the US and enjoyed observing the vibe of Eid season and the religious meanings behind the celebrations.

She said the occasion was very momentous for the Muslim community and she loved the vibrancy and colours displayed together with the Eid celebrations.

Muslims all over the country are expected to begin their celebrations after the sighting of a new moon.
