Vodafone Flying Fijians captain Akapusi Qera is confident the change in weather will not affect the team as much when they play Scotland today at the ANZ Stadium.

Fine-tuning some aspects of their game plan yesterday during the captain’s run, Qera is hoping everything will fall into place on game day.

“The boys have prepared really well this week,” Qera said.

“It has been a good week so far and the boys are really looking forward to the game against the Scots.

“Despite the weather, we will make sure the weather doesn’t affect us at all.”

The team will be wearing black armbands to show support for Campese Ma’afu following the death of his father.

Qera said it has been a tough week for the boys emotionally as they have had to prepare and train without Ma’afu.

“Our thoughts are with Campese and his family and it has been a sad week for us,” he said.

“We are trying to build a team environment and have one of our players facing a hard time at the moment so it has been a sad time for the team. We just want to hope and wish him well for everything.”

Meanwhile, head coach John McKee said while it will be a tough match with the Scots. It will also be a special for Josua Tuisova, Mosese Ducivaki, Sikeli Nabou and John Stewart who will be making their test debut today.

“It is a special day for the players making their test debut and it is really for the whole squad to work together and make it a memorable day for those players,” McKee said.

“We always take a positive attitude during the game and we will play as best we can but definitely if it is slippery, the boys will need to be pretty attentive.”

McKee said they are aware of the depth that the Scottish team have as they have made some changes to their squad following their game against the Wallabies last weekend.
