The Fiji Rugby Union honoured nine former Flying Fijians representatives with their Test caps at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

Presenting their Test caps was Prime Minister and FRU president Voreqe Bainimarama as the former players were applauded by fans for their contribution to the nation through rugby.

They are:

Pita Nacuva (Kewa) – a fullback, Nacuva made his debut against France and played 8 Tests for Fiji between 1979 to 1980.

Dan Lobendahn – a first five eight, Rakiraki born- Lobendahn played 3 Tests for the Flying Fijians between 1973 to1976.

Antonio Racika- Racika had a long career in the white jersey that spanned from 1960 to 1980. He played 30 Tests at hooker and made his debut against the Solomon Islands.

Ratu Kini Vosailagi– Debuting against France, Ratu Kini was a centre/winger who played 11 Tests for the Flying Fijians between 1979 to1981.

Ratu Ilaitia Tuisese– a rangy lock, Ratu Ilaitia played 17 Tests between 1969 to 1977, making his debut against Wales. He also played for the Fijian 7s team that won the Hong Kong 7s in 1977. He was also a former Flying Fijians head coach.

Joe Radrodro– In 1970, Radrodro played the first of his 3 Tests that season with the win against New Zealand Maori.

Nimilote Ratudina – Playing at prop, Ratudina played 14 Tests between 1972 to1979, debuting against Tonga.

Nasoni Uluvula- A powerful lock, Uluvula played the first of his 18 caps against Ireland in Suva, in a Test career that lasted over 10 years.

Ilami Lutumailagi– Played as a flanker from 1979 to 1982. Originally from Moala, Nadi made his Test debut against France in Suva in 1979.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, the 63-year-old Lutumailagi was grateful to FRU for the recognition.

“I feel so proud to have received such recognition for our contribution to rugby,” Lutumailagi said.

“I also would like to acknowledge all my loved ones who stood by my side during my rugby career because it was not an easy task for us as we have given a lot of sacrifice and hardwork to represent our country.”
