University of Fiji on Friday launched a SMS based mobile communication platform in partnership with Vodafone Fiji to enhance its communication with students, teachers and other stakeholders.

This partnership will provide an on the go access to students, lecturers and university administration the ease and convenience via their Vodafone mobile to communicate with the University at any time.

Vodafone Fiji head of E-Commerce and Corporate Affairs, Shailendra Prasad, said the SMS platform solution would allow students and staff to send notifications, reminders and important announcements and updates through the SMS platform for an immediate communication.

He said it would allow students to send in their queries, questions and complaints on their course and program related matters to their lecturers and university administration.

“These responses will be accessible in real time by UniFiji to attend the queries and assist the students in a timely manner.”

He said this was a great solution for the University to keep their students updated and in touch with the latest curriculum.
