Vodafone Fijian FACT champions Rewa were held to a scoreless draw against Labasa in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

Indiscipline played a huge part in the performance of the Delta Tigers as Vuniuci Tikomaimereke was shown a red card while Peniame Drova and Usaia Tadu were yellow carded for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Coach Marika Rodu said while he is not disappointed with getting one point, a draw is not what the team aimed for.

“With the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants next month, the team needs to step up.

“Not disappointed but we are definitely not excited,” Rodu said.

“Our objective was to win the game but we were not in control or organised in the first half.

“One week after FACT we are definitely disorganised. But nevertheless the boys performed at average level and I think we could have done way better.

“While I am not disappointed, it is not okay for us to draw.

“We need to strategise in the second round, we have seven more games and take it as it comes with B.O.G in between.”

Labasa coach Ronil Lal said; “Our finishing really let us down and I think that was evident on the field and that really cost us the game.

“We really need to lift our performance before the B.O.G.

“We came back strongly but our forwards failed and that is the area that we need to work on.”
