There is an expectation that through our presidency of COP23, the voices of the Pacific would be heard, said Minister for Agriculture and Climate Champion Inia Seruiratu.

A two-day meeting will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva from July 3 to 4, where leaders or Climate Change representatives would focus on bringing together relevant stakeholders to promote the exchange of ideas, innovations, and solutions.

Mr Seruiratu will play a big role in putting together this event and also for the pre-COP meet in October.

An impressive list of speakers and expert panellists have also been lined up for the meeting.

It includes:

  •  Emma Herd, the chief executive officer of Investor Group on Climate Change
  •  Suki Atwal, the principal green finance specialist of the Global Green Growth Institute
  •  Vicki Mullen, the vice president of Global Partnerships, Swiss Re
  •  Martijn Wilder the chair of Australian Renewable Energy Association (ARENA), board member of Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
