Assistant Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar and Permanent Secretary, Dr Josefa Koroivueta made a special surprise visit the Samabula Old People’s Homes on Tuesday.

It was a special day for the residents of as they celebrated Eid Mubarak.

Ms Bhatnagar said: “You the senior citizens we value and we have not forgotten your contributions to the development of this nation.

Dr Koroivueta said the spirit of Eid shows there is hope in Fiji to make a big difference on how we should take care of each other.

“It is a time to reflect on how we Fijians need to value our faiths, culture, heritage, and social norms,

He said we respect everybody’s beliefs and we make it a point to celebrate all the religious events.

“Violence against children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities is against humanity,” he said.

He added as a Ministry they call on everybody to unite together to stamp out all forms of violence so that our children can propel forward to build a peaceful Fiji.
