International School Nadi celebrates its silver jubilee in September but it needs to locate a time capsule buried somewhere within its vicinity to finalise its programme.

“We have encountered a small problem. We don’t really know where the time capsule is now,” ISN principal Don Payne said

“We know where it was originally buried and we have heard that it was moved to make way for a new conference room building around 2006,” he said.

“We have also heard that it may have been moved following the great flood in 2012.

“There’s talk of it being below the flagpole or behind the office block, but the bottom line is we haven’t found anyone who can absolutely show us where to dig.”

In the mid 90’s, shortly after ISN moved from Martintar to Nadi Back Road campus, some staff and students had buried the time capsule on school grounds.

The capsule is believed to contain student work and other items relating to that era.

It was intended that the capsule would be dug up at a significant time in the school’s future.

Since then ISN has grown and developed. It has built new buildings and worked its way through a number of climatic challenges, including the great flood of 2012.

The school posted on social media and its active facebook page, but no one has responded so far.

A metal detector has been offered, but it is almost certain that the capsule wasn’t metallic.

If you do know where the time capsule was buried, or would like to reconnect with the school to participate in the 25th Anniversary Celebrations in September, please send an email to:  info@isn.school.fj or phone the school on 6702980
