The Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism,Lands and Mineral  Resources  Faiyaz Koya reckons that the 2017-2018 National Budget is a phenomenal and fantastic one.

“For all Fijians, young people, and civil servants,” Mr Koya said.

“One of the best parts about this budget is that the tax threshold is up to $30,000 now.

“I think there will be a lot of families who will be very happy.

“We have got what we asked for and we will deliver our best services.

“There are a couple of programmes in the tourism industry and we got the budget what we had expected to cater for all its needs.”

The Government increased the marketing grant of $33.6 million to Tourism Fiji for direct marketing costs and rebranding.

“There are some programmmes like the YES (Youth Entrepreneur Scheme) which will be beneficial for our young people.

“One of the best parts of the budget was the civil servants pay rise as well which was important but at the end of the day, it’s about service delivery for all Fijians,” Mr Koya said.

Government wage earners will receive an average increase of 14.3 per cent and common cadre positions will receive an average increase of 15.8 per cent.
