More Rural Dwellers To Get Electricity Supply

The new 2017-2018 Budget has allocated $42.6 million for rural electrification programme. This is a big increase compared to the 2016-2017 Budget which had an allocation of $14.9 million.
Chairman for Fiji Electricity Authority Dakshesh Patel was very happy with the new 2017-2018 budget.
“We are very pleased about the increase in the rural electrification Budget as it will give FEA more opportunities to carry on with some of pending rural electrification projects which have been year marked,” Mr Patel said.
“It is pleasing to see that with this budget and some initiative from FEA, many people who do not have energy supply in remote rural areas will be allocated and will soon be switched on.
“This is great news and I hope this continues in future as well, as there are also some documented rural projects.”
