Positive Future For New Port Of Entry
Port Denarau is now an official port of entry. This was announced by Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on Thursday night during the Budget Announcement.
Port Denarau Marina Limited general manager Cynthia Rasch said they are overwhelmed with the announcement.
Ms Rasch said, “We are very positive about it and for Fiji as whole as we have been in talks with Government for some time.
“We are happy and grateful to the Government to recognise us now as a port of entry. From now onwards we will want to progress further.”
The award-winning Marina is part of the SkeggsGroup, a private company based in New Zealand.
Fiji Ports Corporation Limited chief executive officer, Vajira Piyasena, said the declaration of Port Denarau as a port of entry is mainly to cater for yachts.
FPCL have yet to make proper assessment to verify whether their involvement is required at Port Denarau.
