The Fiji Meteorological Services office in Nadi is calling on the public to keep warm because the country is undergoing a cool season.

Director Meteorology Ravind Kumar said: “The country is currently in its cool season and this is the time when temperatures fall below 18 °C in the coastal areas and below 15 °C inland.”

“The cold nights have been experienced from last weekend as a high pressure system to the south of Fiji directs cold and dry air over the country,” Mr Kumar said.

“We expect a few more days of cool weather.

“This is normal at this time of the year as July and August are the coolest months.”

Over the same period last year, cold nights were experienced.
