Samoan PM confirms Signing MOU with Fiji Airways

Samoa’s Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi has confirmed signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Fiji Airways.

While no detail about the MOU has been released, Mr Tuilaepa said airfares between Samoa and New Zealand and Australia were too high.

He said that the two airlines currently serving the routes were controlling airfares through partnerships.

Fiji Airways Executive General Manager, Fiji Link and Group Corporate, International and Government Affairs, Shaenaz Voss said they were excited about the potential partnership.

“As we work through the details of the MOU in consultation with the parties involved, we will have more comprehensive information on the specifics of this partnership, which we will be able to share in due course.”

Fiji Airways will assist the Samoan Government in its bid to acquire their new flag carrier.

Mr Tuilaepa is reported to have said that the new airline will be named Samoa Airways.

This is to create a sense of patriotism among the Samoan people.
