A group from Lovelove Village in Macuata have decided to use their love for music help address some of the issues they face on a daily basis.

Manager Eremasi Batisova said Kabu Kei Uluivanualevu is made-up of four young men who launched their first album in Labasa in April.

“It is all about showcasing the talents of these young men which in turn help our community with some of the issues that we continue to face,” Batisova said.

He said the reason why they had decided to do this were to fund their village community hall, road maintenance and to address issues like water shortage.

Batisova said the first volume was titled Adi Alumita – which is named after his daughter and they are hoping that they would be able to gain a decent amount from the sales.

“I am really grateful to be part of the band and also one of the upcoming groups in Fiji.

“I think that this band not only recognises the hard work of composers and musicians from the past years but also acts as a platform for the new generation of musical artists that will take Fijian music to the next level.

“Now we’re looking at keeping this great thing going because it helps us promote our village artists and talents that they have.”

He said musicians that were part of their recent concert were Laisiasa Tuinuku,Samuela Uluikadavu and Tupelai Matarugu.

“It was a great show and allowed a lot of our aspiring artists to also witness the good talents that they have in their village.”

Meanwhile, the group’s first album has 10 songs which are:

Mosi Ni Yalo, Josua Wainiqolo, Seini Raiyaki, Adi Alumita, Na Watiqu, Siria, Na Mosi, Vakanananu E Solegi Au, Vakatataro na Yaloqu and Au Lutu Dromu.
