Coffin: We Still On Development Phase

The Mates Hockey Club is working on a three-year development plan. The club had a disappointing start in the women’s division in the opening round of the competition yesterday when they lost by default to Blue Star.

For their men’s team they won by default after Sugar Sticks failed to turn-up.

Head coach and former national rep Ernest Coffin said they’ve young players who are mainly secondary school students.

“We’ve concentrated on developing our young players from last year where we reached the semifinal and lost,” he said.

“Our aim this year is to develop these young players and we can’t do that overnight, we will need to see their potentials. We’ve students from Natabua and Ba Provincial as we work towards our three-year development plan.”

The LHA had their round one of games played at Nadovu Park yesterday.

RESULTS: Women- Rockefellers WBD Blue Star, Rockefellers WBD Tokalau, Blue Star WBD Mates; Men- Blue Star 3-0 Rockefellers, Mates WBD  Sugar Sticks
