FRA To Continue With Plans Despite Ex-CEO’s Comments

The Fiji Roads Authority will continue with its short and long term plans to improve and develop Fiji’s road network.

It made this statement in response to comments attributed to former chief executive John Hutchinson.

Mr Hutchinson told ABC’s Pacific Beat that his resignation was a result of unrealistic expectations from the Government which he was unable to achieve.

But acting chief executive Robert Sen said: “That is Mr Hutchinson’s personal view.”

“The Fiji Roads Authority has short and long term plans in both our capital and maintenance programmes to improve and develop Fiji’s road network,” Mr Sen stated.

Mr Hutchinson claimed that FRA board continued to maintain those expectations and hence he decided that the best thing would be to give someone the opportunity to deliver those expectations.

The Permanent Secretary for Local Government, Housing and Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Paul Bayley, said he would rather choose not to comment on Mr Hutchinson’s interview which he had not listened to or read.
