Loretta Kotoisuva won the Geotech Drilling and Island Electric sponsored Pineapple Cup women’s singles trophy after defeating Litia Tikoisuva 21-10 in the final last night.

“The last time I won was in 2015 and I missed out last year,” Kotoisuva said.

“It is such an amazing feeling because I have been preparing for this competition for a long time and the win means a lot to me.

“This is definitely another highlight in my bowling career.

“We are not getting any younger so to be able to keep playing and winning feels really great.

“I also want women out there to come forward and take up bowling, I have been playing bowls for a very long time and we need more women.

“Bowls is a really good sport. It keeps you moving and fit and I really hope to see more women taking part.”

Winning the Pineapple Cup was not easy as Kotoisuva said competition has been growing every year.

“The ladies really played well and they have been getting better as the years go by which is really good to see,” she said.

“I took every game as a final and I think that is what motivated me to win but it gets harder each year.”
