Nine Years Wait Over For Naiseruvati

After trying for nine years, Semesa Naiseruvati finally won his first Geotech Drilling and Island Electric Pineapple Cup singles title.
Naiseruvati beat Rajinesh Prasad 21-15 in the final at the Suva Bowling Club last night.
With his wife, Nyla, present during the finals, Naiseruvati believes her presence is what gave him the motivation.
“I have been playing the Pineapple Cup finals for nine years now and 2017 is my lucky year,” Naiseruvati said.
“The big difference this year was my wife came to watch. She rarely comes to my games because she has her own sport to concentrate on.
“So her presence really gave me a boost and I am so happy.”
While Naiseruvati is not getting any younger, he has a dream to one day become a coach and grow the sport at grassroot levels.
“The competition is getting tougher because there are a lot of young players involved now,” he said.
