The Vodafone Flying Fijians were hosted to a lunch organised by the Fijian community in Tonga at the Tanoa International Dateline Hotel in Nuku’alofa  yesterday.

It was a well-deserved lunch for the boys after their 14-10 victory over Tonga to claim their number one spot in the Pacific and a spot in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.

The group who organised the lunch called themselves Expat Fijians.

Fiji Airways manager regional Ilisapeci Koroi said the lunch was for them to show their appreciation for what the team achieved.

“We are working Fijians here in Tonga and we decided host a lunch for the Fiji team,” Koroi said.

“We decided on the menu and got some of our elders to speak and this was to show our appreciation and give something back to the boys.”

Though the Flying Fijians have qualified for the World Cup, they still have one more Pacific Nations Cup game against Samoa this weekend.

After the PNC, the World Cup campaign will begin for the Flying Fijians.

Fiji will play Samoa on Saturday at Apia Park at 3pm (FT).
