Thurston Food and Music Festival : 4 Days Left To Food, Music Fest

Organisers say tickets are selling fast.
Four more days until the much awaited Thurston Food and Music Festival kicks off this Saturday.
A blood bank will be set up at the event and the public, 16 years and over, are encouraged to donate to a worthy cause.
Ministry of Health’s National Advisor NCD and Head of Health and Wellness Centre, Dr Isimeli Tukana, said there would also be screening for non-communicable diseases at the bank.
“While people enjoy the food, drinks and music they can also think of the less fortunate by donating blood,” he said.
Dr Tukuna encouraged those who would be coming especially those who have not donated blood, to kindly do so adding that it was one of the best things to do.
He said one pint of blood could help three people. There was always a need and so he was pleading to the general public to donate blood.
“The issue is much more on readiness in cases of emergency every day, we begin to realise the need of blood on standby and we should be able to respond,” said Dr Tukuna.
He pleads to those coming down for a great time of music and food to donate one pint of blood for a great cause.
Event organisers and Director of Knox Entertainment, Ellana Kalounisiga, said tickets were selling really fast and she was looking forward to see the festival take off.
“Come on down to the heart of the capital city and don’t forget to bring your chair or mats,” she said.
The Thurston Food and Music Festival starts this Saturday at Thurston Garden, Suva, from 9am to 10pm.
About 1500 people are expected at the festival and the first major event by Knox Entertainment.
Tickets are on sale at the RoC Café, Ginger Kitchen at the Fiji Museum, and Fiji Broadcasting Corporation. Admission is free for children under 12 years.
