The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) rugby league team won their second match in the Defence Force category of the Festival of Rugby League World Cup competition in Sydney, Australia. They beat the New Zealand Defence Force 40-6.

In the first half RFMF scored three unconverted tries to Marika Tagicakibau, Ilikena Niumataiwalu and Levani Tacikalou while NZ managed only a converted try.

In the second half, RFMF moved up a gear and adopted an attacking defence structure which enabled them to score a total of 28 unanswered points. RFMF scored a total of five tries in the second half with four converted by Niumataiwalu who also kicked a penalty.  Levani Tacikalou and Niumataiwalu scored two tries each in the second spell while Ropate Tobe scored a try.

RFMF’s next game is against Australia on Wednesday but they have now qualified for the final which is set for Sunday.
