Westpac Projects Team took a break from their busy work schedule this week and combined their health and wellness walk together with the clean-up along the Nasese foreshore.

The initiative came as part Westpac’s 200 hours of volunteer community work to celebrate Westpac’s 200th Anniversary.

Garbage bags were filling fast with rubbish such as plastic bags, takeaway containers, broken and plastic drink bottles, and assorted rubbish.

The team was shocked – and it was certainly an eye opener – to see the amount of rubbish being thrown away.

This exercise has enabled the team to be advocates for a cleaner and safer foreshore environment.

They have already started their advocacy by educating their family, colleagues and community about the responsible disposal of rubbish.

The Westpac Projects Team found this incredibly rewarding that they contributed to a safer and cleaner foreshore through their efforts, and it was a great team bonding activity with lots of laughter along the way.

The team have more foreshore clean ups planned throughout the year.
