Suva Grammar School has submitted their film for the Kula Film Awards competition.

The film is based on the importance of being appreciative.

“The production is seven-eight minutes long and the main message is about appreciating what we have and the sacrifices that parents make for their children,” said Grammar Year 13 script writer Erema Panapasa.

The Kula Awards is an initiative of Film Fiji for high school students and budding film makers to develop.

Ms Panapasa created the script titled “Cherish the Love” and it took two months to put together involving 15 cast members.

Ms Panapasa said the film was based on the love of a mother towards her daughter.

She said the film begins when the mother loses her job and the daughter who had befriended well to do friends attempts to fit in and compete with them but she could not due to her financial constraints.

She said parents needed to know they should not give in to all the demands of their children as they could become spoiled.

“But our film’s main message is on being appreciative,” she said.

More than a thousand students will take part at this year’s 12th Kula Awards competition.

It will culminate with the awards ceremony which will be held from July 28 to July 29.
