It will be a proud yet exciting moment for the 14-year old Rosemarie Rova to represent Fiji in swimming at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) in Bahamas on July 19-23.

The Year 10 student of Swami Vivekananda College anticipates a good exposure and aims to achieve her personal best time.

“I’ve been preparing well, training hard and my coach has been very encouraging as well,” Rova said.

“It is my first time going to Bahamas and also participating in the CYG and my aim is to come back with my personal best.

“I would like to thank my parents for supporting me throughout my preparations which has enabled me to come this far. I’m very honoured to be part of Team Fiji Team.”

The other swimmers are Taichi Vakasama and Temafa Talianaivalu.

Vakasama has been nominated as the flag- bearer for Team Fiji in the CYG.  He will compete in 100metres and 200m breaststroke. The team departs Nadi at 10pm on Saturday.
