The Fijian National Rugby League received $48,291.60 from Pacific Energy in Suva yesterday.

This is to help in the hosting of the Tri-Nations Cup tournament on October 14 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva featuring the Vodafone Fijian Bati, Papua New Guinea Kumuls and the Australian Kangaroos,

The tournament will be used as build-up for the Rugby League World Cup on October 27-December 2.

Pacific Energy business manager Tapuaki Finauga made the presentation to FNRL chief executive officer Timoci Naleba.

Finauga said they were working closely with FNRL to support the Fiji Bati campaign.

“We are supporting the Bati preparations for the 2017 RLWC and the Tri-Nations Cup,” Finauga said.

“The money is from the ongoing ‘fuel up and support Fiji Bati’ campaign,” he said.

“In the campaign one cent from every litre of fuel sold at any of our service stations goes towards the Fiji Bati preparations and the FNRL.

“We would like to encourage the people of Fiji to come forward and support the campaign before it ends in September.”

Naleba was overwhelmed with the financial assistance.

“We are grateful to Pacific Energy for the commitment given to FNRL since the signing they came on board last year,” Naleba said.

“The RLWC is just three months away and our players playing at NRL are very keen to join us here in Fiji as well. Our local players have stepped up preparations,”he said.
