Fiji Sun Letter of the Month June winner, Timaima Ledua, 16, was lost for words and shocked when she got the call last Saturday that she had won.

The Year 11 student of Jai Narayan College letter was titled ‘Budget with a Heart’.

She wrote on how the 2017-2018 National Budget gives opportunities for the disadvantaged and people with special needs were given house assistance.

She also wrote on the assistance given to students through the Tertiary Education Loans Scheme (TELS) especially for Year 12 students studying engineering.

The passionate writer thanks the Government of the day for all the assistance that has been provided in the National Budget especially for the marginalised.

“I’ve always been writing Letters to the Editor but this is the first time I have won,” she said.

The science student would like to thank the Fiji Sun and Courts for the opportunity and was grateful for the prize. She won a Philips sandwich maker.

She was presented with her prize by Courts Samabula Retail Manager Vimlesh Prasad yesterday at their Samabula retail store. Ms Ledua is thinking of pursuing a career in politics after completing secondary school studies.
