Natasha Conquers National Green Olympiad

This was a moment that 14-year-old Natasha Prakash would not soon forget.
The student from Koroqaqa Primary School in Bau Levu, Nausori, was among 17 other students from the Central Division who were awarded certificates of recognition and trophies at an award ceremony at Suva Grammar School.
The ceremony was to recognise their success in the National Green Olympiad.
“I wasn’t very sure at first but when I saw the questions I was confident because it was easy for me,” she said.
Natasha was happy with the win and it was the first time the Year 8 student had entered a competition.
She was accompanied by her parents Nirmala and Nand Prakash as well as her school’s head teacher, Arvin Prasad.
All students who were awarded scored full marks.
The award ceremony’s chief guest was the Ministry of Education’s Deputy Secretary Professional, Kelera Taloga. She said the test questions focused on some challenging issues like climate change, renewable energy, food security, biodiversity, conservation, disaster risk reduction, and sustainability.
