The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) created history by winning the Defence Rugby League World Cup in its first outing at the Defence World Cup.

The team will bring home the silverware today after a stunning performance against the Australian Defence Force.

Leading 22-6 at half time, the team ramped up the pressure in the second half to win the game 44-12.

The RFMF team had gone into the competition as underdogs.

Commentators had commended highly on the raw talent showcased at the competition.

The team returns today.

Fiji 44:  (Aaron Joshua Vadiga 2. Lepani Tacikalou 2 Ainisito Komai, Marika Tagicakibau, Jone Saukuru, Rotate Tobe tries; Ilikena Niumataiwalu 6 goals);

Australia 12: (Sam Lutzke, Dylan McGregor tries; Barry Ruttley 2 goals)

Halftime: 22-6.
