Fiji Link, Fiji Airways domestic subsidiary, has been announced as the main sponsor of the 2017 Kula Dance Competition.

15 schools have registered to participate at this year’s dance event, which promises to be another exciting showcase of dance and performance, with special guests Ngahuia Piripi (Esther) and Tane Williams (Ali) from Shortland Street joining the show.

Sanctioned by the Ministry of Education, the Fiji Link Dance Competition brings together students from across Fiji to battle it out on stage and win awards for themselves and their schools.

Fiji Link general manager Athil Narayan said: “We’re very excited to be the naming right sponsors for the Kula Dance Competition.

“It’s such a great and inclusive event for students of Fiji to showcase their talent, and there is clearly an abundance of it.

“Like our parent company, Fiji Link is very supportive of nurturing Fijian talent and providing opportunities for our youth to develop their many abilities.”

In addition to the title and trophies, the total cash prize for these awards is $5900.

Film Fiji chief executive officer Dallas Foon said: “We are very pleased to have a wonderful partner supporting us in Fiji Link and Fiji Airways.

“The competition has seen another lift in standard and we are anticipating another great event this year.

“Fiji Link and Fiji Airways participated in some of our school drives which saw an increase in participation to 31 schools for the entire Kula Awards this year, so we are very happy with this partnership and support”.

The Fiji Link Dance Competition will take place on July 29 at 7pm at the Vodafone Arena.

Fiji Airways continues its support of the Art Competition, winners for which will be announced on July 28 at Vmax Damodar City, Suva.

Tickets are still available for both events from the Film Fiji Office and any Damodar Cinema complex.
