Ranuve’s Dream Realised With Pageant Entry

Hot Springs Hotel contestant Kirisitina Ranuve’s dream of taking part in a beauty pageant will finally eventuate with the Vodafone Savusavu Carnival which opens next Tuesday.
“I have always wanted to be a part of the pageant from when I was a small girl but have never had the opportunity,” the Naselesele lass said.
“My best friend told me about it on my birthday last month and at first I was reluctant, but when I heard the theme was on climate change, I knew I had to take part.”
The 22-year-old is a second year USP undergraduate student majoring in Journalism and Politics.
Her interest to register as a contestant was successful with Hot Springs Hotel confirming her as their ambassador for the carnival.
While she is yet to confirm the topic which she would be highlighting, she said climate change was an issue closer to home as this was an issue Pacific Islanders faced on a daily basis.
“I would not only like to talk about it but to act on it and also encourage my fellow Fijians to wake up and act,” Ms Ranuve said.
“This is a perfect platform to raise this issue.”
Ms Ranuve is the eldest of five children with maternal links to Wailevu Village in Tunuloa, Cakaudrove.
