A total of 48 players from the eight participating districts were tested during the group stage of the 2017 INKK Mobile Battle Of Giants at Subrail Park in Labasa.

The Fiji Football Association (FFA) chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said one player was tested positive.

“We are fully committed in making football drug free and the player has been suspended for four weeks, “Yusuf said.

“He will be given another chance to clean up himself and a re-test will be done after four weeks and if found positive against a heavy sanctioned will be imposed on him.”

Yusuf with held the name of the player and his district and said details would be made public if the player failed the second test as well.

A total of four players were tested positive for taking drugs namely marijuana during the Fiji FACT. Three players have been cleared following a re-test while one player who failed to appear for the test remains suspended.

Two players from every team are selected randomly at halftime of every match in tournaments and their respective benches are informed in the 75th minute.

Upon the conclusion of the match, the players have to give a urine sample for test and the results are made available the following day.
