Hearing Date Set For Fiji Chess And FASANOC

The hearing date for the Fiji Chess Federation (FCF) and FASANOC (Fiji Association of Sports and National Committee) has been set for July 24.
FCF had taken FASANOC to court after it claimed that its suspension was based out of rumours and that FASANOC had no powers to interfere in FCF’s affairs.
Earlier on, before Justice Deepthi Amaratunga, an injunction had been therefore sought against FASANOC’s purported suspension of FCF as a member in April.
One of the grounds that FCF has filed is that they were wrongfully and unlawfully suspended without a fair hearing from FASANOC.
FCF has also sought that its membership with FASANOC be immediately reinstated because FCF members are being affected and not only the federation.
FCF had sought for an early hearing date because they wanted to take part in the upcoming Asian Indoor Games in September.
FCF is represented by Shoma Daven while FASANOC is represented by Ronald Singh.
