Ballantine Memorial School is advocating young entrepreneurship at next week’s Film Fiji and Fijian Made Film Awards.

This was confirmed by Tokasa Niubalavu, teacher in charge of the school’s movie production.

Scriptwriter and choreographer, Adi Sorowaqali Turagabeci said she chose to write on entrepreneurship because it was part of the Year Seven English project topics.

“This short movie focuses on small business entrepreneurship which can assist one to earn a decent living and its rolling effect,”

The movie is about Afi the main character who sold roti and curry parcels to pay for her mum’s medical bills and her fees for tertiary education as well.

Adi Sorowaqali said that the preparation for the Kula Dance Competition was going well.

“We are preparing well with a total of 25 girls performing,” Adi Sorowaqali said.

“Our teachers have been very supportive, and the opportunity to do something for the school has been a good experience,” she said.

The Film and Art Awards will be held on July 28 at the Damodar Vmax Cinema at Damodar Event Cinemas on Grantham Road.

The Fiji Link Dance competition will be held on Saturday July 29 at the Vodafone Arena.

The events sanctioned by the Ministry of Education will have 15 secondary school participating.
