Inquisitive Poasa Ravoka, did not want to miss the opportunity to get as much information he needed while at the Fiji National University Open Day yesterday.

Poasa, a Year 12, of Lautoka Andhra Sangam College was one of the many thousands that converged on the Namaka Campus in Day One.

“I am here to get the maximum information regarding my career path and I will be able to justify that by being present here,” Poasa said.

“I am impressed with the many career opportunities which I could get hold of in the future,” he said.

“This open day is different as they also have practical sessions and competitions for students to test their skills.”

His fellow school mate Anasa Drigita said it was interesting to be part of the cooking competition.

West senior students from Rakiraki to Sigatoka were enlightened with the presentations and prerequisites for enrolling at the College of Business and Hospitality, College of Humanities and Education, College of Fisheries and Forestry and the College of Engineering Science and Technology.

“During my days when I was in high school we never had this open day so for me this is a big benefit for these school students they can see what programmes we are offering,” coordinator Eric Jioje said.

“Everything is provided all information and even our experienced lecturers and heads of schools they are all here to give proper advice to all students if students have this information than they can make informed choices and decisions about what they want to do for their future carrier,” he said.

Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF), LTA, and Ministry of Education were also part of the FNU West Open Day.

FNU Namaka is expecting the attendance of 15 secondary schools with more than 4000 secondary school students attending the Open Day.

Similar Open days are held at FNU Suva and FNU Labasa.
