Davuilevu Housing residents at Adi Davila Road, near Nausori, are furious to see that irresponsible people has again dumped rubbish at the spot they had just cleared.

A resident who declined to be identified said it was suspected that a commercial truck was responsible.

He said that these was a possibility that the rubbish was illegally dumped in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep.

“The offenders are moving around under the cover of darkness and it is frustrating,” the resident said.

“It is sad that people will not throw rubbish in their own neighbourhood but will dump it in other neighbourhoods,” he said.

“This attitude is sickening. We thought we had gotten rid of the problem by clearing two big illegal dumps after the Fiji Sun exposed them.

“It’s been quiet for a while but we woke up this week and saw this new illegal dump.

“One of these days there will be a showdown here between the litter bugs and the anti-litter campaigners who live at the top end of Adi Davila Road.

“Patience is wearing thin because residents here want to live in a clean environment that is conducive to a healthy lifestyle.”

The Nausori Rural Local Authority, which is responsible for picking up rubbish in the area, has been busy clearing a major illegal dump site in Waituri with other Government agencies.

It was also involved previously in the clearing of the illegal dumps at Adi Davila Road.

They have discovered this week that litter vandals have struck again.

They are dumping rubbish at a new spot despite the much publicised illegal dumps that have previously been cleared from this road.
