Students Confirm Career Path From Open Day

Year 13 students of Rishikul Sanatan College said the Fiji National University open day was an eye opener for them.
To Maria Baratepa, 18, Raijeli Wawa, 18, and Naijome Pauriasi, 18 the Open Day was a great help in helping them confirm their career path.
Maria said the open day was refreshing for them and an eye-opener because she was not sure of the medical field she would take up.
“I am a science student but I was not sure of what field of medicine I wanted to pursue a career in,” Maria said.
“But going to the Open Day helped me narrow my options down and see the best choices I could get to study next year in medicine,” she said.
“As in high school, we just concentrate on theory work but during the Open Day; we got to practice some of the items which we were interested in and know if we really wanted to pursue a career in medicine which we all want to do.
“We chose medicine because we wanted to help our Fijians and ensure their health is proper,”
Raijeli said FNU is one place she would like to study at because the programmes are not only based on theory but also practical work as well.
“The practical work is what enhances our knowledge of what we study in class and is fresh in our mind,” Raijeli said.
