Lal Wins Half Marathon
Twenty-two year old Avikash Lal of Jet Runners Club was overwhelmed after he won gold in the half marathon event at the 2017 Island Chill Suva Marathon event in Suva yesterday.
The Votualevu, Nadi native clocked a personal best time of 1hour 5:16minutes.
“I thank my sponsor Palas Auto Service Limited for their endless support and also Suva Marathon for organising the event,”Lal said.
“The event has given me the opportunity to better my running time and achieved my personal best. I am looking forward to competing in the future championship to keep improving my time.
“It was a bit tough as I ran with a German athlete and I am thankful to him for pushing me to do my best.
“I would like to also thank my parents as they have very always encouraging me to keep striving for the best and supporting me.”
