Cure Kids Fiji received $35,000 to continue their role to support Fijian children health system yesterday.

Project Bula Mai Style Fiji gave the donation from their 2016 takings in their mission to promote “health is wealth”.

The charitable trust established in 2011 have raised more than $600,000 in cash and kind which they have donated to various institutions in Fiji including the Nadi hospital.

Project chairperson Adrian Sofield during the hand over at the Sofitel Fiji Resort on Denarau said: “We have also supported the divisional medical health system and as we move forward we will continue to support Cure Kids Fiji.

“We’re certainly looking forward to working with Cure Kids Fiji in whatever plans they have.”

Cure Kids Fiji Director Sally Cooper said: “We are absolutely honoured to be supported by Bula Mai Style Fiji and thankful of the in generous donation.”

Ms Cooper said the funds will be used for the oxygen delivery programme, which they had piloted last year.

“We plan to install 20 to the hospitals in Fiji.We do all the work voluntarily,” Ms Cooper said.

Cure Kids Fiji in the past six years, has focussed on preventing and improving outcomes for children living with rheumatic heart disease (RHD), a potentially life-threatening condition affecting one in 30 school-aged children in Fiji, which is among the highest rates in the world.

Project Bula Mai Style Fiji funds were collected through the annual Style Fiji, a fashion extravaganza hosted to support the developments of local fashion designers, models, artists and celebrities.

Style Fiji this year will be held on December 2; tickets are selling at $165 including cocktails, dinner, the fashion show, entertainment and auction.
