Fijian Under-18 rugby 7s team skipper Metuisela Raboiliku has promised to work hard to boost his sporting career.

The 17-year-old returned from the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas where they won the bronze medal. The side beat Canada 28 14 in an exciting match to seal the third spot.

“I’m excited since this is the first time for me to see myself playing on the international career,” he said.

“I really want to boost my rugby skills and further my rugby career. Rugby has given me hope in life.”

The Lelean Memorial School student plays at rover and said the win was only made possible through team work.

“I thank the boys for their efforts and we’re hoping to make our names in the future. The boys were motivated since this was the first time them to play in such competition.

“We’re motivated but unfortunately we did not win gold. I guess the next team that will compete on that level has a benchmark to improve on. We’re making up our minds to represent Fiji in future tournaments and also make the senior team one day.”
