It was an amazing experience for Team Fiji athletes that participated in the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas, says chef de mission Tomasi Tiko.

“It has been a privilege serving them,” Tiko said as the Team Fiji contingent arrived at Nadi International Airport yesterday.

“Looking at the performance overall, it has been a successful outing. The swimmers set around six nationals records and broke eight personal bests.

“The men’s didn’t win anything but in the last game they won bronze and that is another step up while it was unfortunate for our woman rugby side.

“So if you look at the sports overall a lot of athletes and a lot of them progressed from their previous games. What’s next for the athletes- is that a lot of them will be part of the Youth Olympics next year. This is a memorable one for every athlete.”

Tiko added a total of 32 athletes and 10 officials were part of the contingent.
